Block: Maple plywood
Ink: Burnt Umber
Paper: Daphne
Process: Straight forward woodcut.
Image: Inspired by images of the international competition in
Basque country in Spain, entailing human towers. Teams of Castellets (little human
castles) compete for bragging rights. In the actual competition, grown men compose
the lower layers and younger fellows the higher floors. The Castellet is deemed
complete when a child of 9-12 climbs to the top and raises his hand.
