New Artists and Students Welcome!

Hello prospective Invited Artist,

Let me tell you a little about the site:

The Printmaking Studio and Maria Arango Gallery is a website owned and operated by yours truly. I am interested in promoting the arts of printmaking throughout the web. One of my interests is in educating the public about the difference between original prints (woodblock, litho, intaglio, woodblock :) and "reproductions" done with an electronic method.
In my opinion, the process of printmaking adds to an image a certain tactile quality that laser or giclee prints cannot and should not reproduce.
I am a big fan of experimentation and new artists doing new stuff.

The site gets over 5000 hits/week and increasing. By contrast, the studio drawers where I keep prints don't get any hits and nobody comes browsing through my bins.

Details for submission:

1. Images:
Send a minimum of 4, maximum of 10 images with a list of Titles/Dimensions/Year, whatever else you want to show with your images. They should be already scanned in a diskette (.jpg or .gif) or a CD (see image specs below) or you may email them as attachments. Feel free to send media other than prints as long as most of the slides are prints. I will place the non-printmaking art in a separate page.
All thumbnail images will be placed on your gallery pages and a large version will appear on a separate page.

Image specs:

2. If you do not have access to a scanner or digital camera, you have a couple of choices:

3. Send me by e-mail a bio and photo (optional) to give web surfers details on who you are. Also include anything else about yourself and/or an artist statement if you wish. Don't forget your address so I can send you back your stuff and your e-mail address so surfers can contact you directly.
A neat thing would be if experimental printmakers said something about how they make their art, but that, of course is optional.

THE ADDRESS TO SEND YOUR ART IS:
Maria Arango
2544 Casey Drive
Las Vegas, NV 89120

contact me: mariamariarango.com

4. Application fee: Send a check or money order for $10.00.  I don't charge anything for web space or uploading your stuff. It's all in the spirit of promoting printmaking and art. If your art is not accepted, your full fee will be returned. Please include return postage!

5. You will be notified by email when your pages are ready for viewing. Then you can tell all your friends and I will announce that your work is online on several printmaking lists and forums that I belong to. The more people you tell, the more people see your work.

6. Your web pages will be on line for as long as one year. The gallery changes every end of the year. A miniature copy of some of your art will be placed in the printmaking mural forever more.

That's all!

PLEASE NOTE:
I reserve the right to refuse stuff that I may consider offensive or obscene. It's my web site after all.

PLEASE NOTE #2:
If you already have a website, don't be a hog! Let artists that do not currently have web presence apply and get online.

I'm looking forward to seeing your excellent work.

Regards,

Maria Arango
