The prints are part of a growing series. The images are inspired by the wood grain of the block itself. Some viewers see different images than what I had intended, which satisfies me greatly. I started out by "playing" around and matching figures I had in my head to the grain of the cherry that I love to work with. One thing led to another and now I literally "see" figures as soon as I pick up a blank block of wood. I enjoy thinking of wood and human nature as very similar, both with sinuous tendons and muscles and arteries full of life.
