Have you ever seen such beautiful wood? Two cherry plywood panels 3/4" x 24" x 30" from Rockler.com

First order of business was to get the panels cut to size so that I could later fit on the bed of my tiny press. I cut them to 22" x 28".

Here is one of my favorite artist's tools, the one responsible for starting almost anything around my studio.

Once the drawing was complete (a day or so delay), other tools came into play; or is that, came in to play? Why the drill? Some of the puzzle pieces had no edge and none of them touch each other, so the drill starts the hole that the jig-saw sneaks into to start the cut...

The jig-saw bandit action figure, ready for action! I wore goggles too.

First victim! The outside edges were easy.

There was a whole lot of clamping and cursing going on. This is set up in my front porch on a windy day, which made clean up of the saw dust very easy. What is it? Patience...

More pieces get chopped...
OKAY, IF YOU LIKE SURPRISES, STOP HERE NOW!!! NEXT PICTURE IS THE DESIGN...

All the blocks happily cut and ordered into their matrix. There are 44 participants, 11 arms of the web ("web", get it?) and an average of 4 pieces per arm. I tried to make all the blocks the same approximate size, although they varied a bit.

Packed and ready to fly to their new temporary homes.
